It'south to incentivize people into purchasing multiple copies for friends and/or family who want to play together, which is why you see bundles that include 2 or even 4 copies of the aforementioned game.

And while information technology may seem anti-consumer. The policy is likely in identify to preclude friends and family unit from account sharing by providing a good for you alternative. So, it's kind of a middle ground solution.

You 2 can play together through a LAN game and don't even need to share. Log into Steam on two dissimilar computers and so become into Steam'southward offline style. And so you can both start the game and then in the network settings at the main bill of fare but select LAN and you should encounter each other and be able to play with 1 copy of the game.
If you aren't able to share between accounts on the same computer and then either the host account is playing something even if the friends listing or profile doesn't show or the account sharing was not set up properly.
You can of course likewise use the first method to play with two dissimilar accounts at the aforementioned time, the LAN stuff is the same and only the host account with the buy needs to exist in offline mode.
